Wild Oats Shiraz

Vintage: Current Vintage (Enquiries Welcome)

Varietals: Shiraz

Region: Mudgee

Like Bob Oatley’s yacht, Wild Oats wines are a modern take on a time-honoured tradition –fine wines made from traditional grape varieties in a contemporary style. They’re enjoyed at parties, bars, restaurants and some of the most discerning social scenes by those who love vibrant, easy to drink wines that will impress family and friends. Refined in structure and texture, detailed and generous in personality, and served in the slickest of bright, fashionable packaging –Wild Oats wines set the scene for every enjoyable occasion. Fresh, crisp and fruit driven, they have captured the minds of wine lovers, perhaps for no other reason than their suitability to our warm climate and light, vibrant cuisine.

Aroma and Palate A supple, rounded Shiraz with appealing plummy fruits and a touch of spice, produced from Oatley family vineyards at Mudgee. Will prove a fine partner to richer flavoured red meat dishes.

Individual parcels were cold soaked for 2-3 days, fermented at moderate temperatures and gently extracted for 10-14 days prior to pressing, then matured for 18 months prior to blending and bottling. French oak plays a supportive role to the wine’s generous ripe dark fruits.

Alc/vol: 13.0%
Closure: Stelvin Lux + screw cap

As a feisty young sailor, Bob Oatley was given the nickname ‘Wild Oats’. It is now the memorable name of his most popular wine range and his incredibly successful yacht
Wild Oats XI – the record breaking winner of Australia’s own bluewater classic: the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

In six short years Bob Oatley ’s Wild Oats range of contemporary wines has enjoyed remarkable success – winning multiple awards, c ritical acclaim, widespread distribution and a multitude of fans Australia-wide. Introduced in 2010 to offer a fuller-flavoured, more traditional version of shiraz to the popular Wild Oats Shiraz Viognier, this wine offers concentrated dark fruits on a richer, weightier palate.
