As a feisty young sailor, Bob Oatley was given the nickname ‘Wild Oats’. I t is now the memorable name of his most popular wine range and his incredibly successful yacht Wild Oats XI – the record breaking winner of Australia’s own bluewater classic: the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

In six short years Bob Oatley ’s Wild Oats range of contemporary wines has enjoyed remarkable success – winning multiple awards, critical acclaim, widespread distribution and a multitude of fans Australia-wide.
Mudgee is home to some of the oldest chardonnay vines in Australia and has a long history of producing outstanding, award-winning wines from this most popular white varietal.

Wild Oats is a contemporary take on the style, where oak supports rather than dominates the well-defined fruit character. Chardonnay is our favourite grape and this wine, from Oatley family vineyards at Mudgee, delivers a modern take on the Australian style: full-bodied yet crisp, with citrus and melon fruit flavours. Roast poultr y or pork will partner it well.

WINEMAKING NOTES:
A variety of winemaking regimes were employed to produce a complex yet fruit driven style. The grapes were grown on four Oatley family Mudgee vineyards – primarily Woodbrook and Craigmoor, with a
small portion from Wooloomooloo and Chardonnay Park. French oak plays a supporting role to the generous chardonnay fruit characters.
