When the early pioneers left their camps to explore, their trusty dogs would sit on the Tuckerbox guarding provisions, until they returned. From the 1850’s the dog sitting on the Tuckerbox has been immortalized in early poems and songs. In 1932 the Prime Minister of Australia, Joe Lyons unveiled a statue of the Dog on the Tuckerbox. The statue still stands today on the Hume Highway (5 miles from Gundagai). In recognition of the early pioneers (and their trusty Dogs) we have produced wines, beers and ciders under the Tuckerbox label. These products are sourced from and produced in regional NSW supporting the pioneering spirit.
