Heritage Château Tanunda was established in 1890 and is the site of the very first vines planted in the Barossa in the 1840’s. ‘The Château’ is a heritage icon, the grand buildings,
magnificent gardens and vineyards are owned by the Geber family who continue a century old tradition of fine winemaking.

Vineyard All the fruit comes from vineyards which are owned by the Château - The main component from the cool climate, high altitude Mathews road vineyard in Eden Valley
along with two unique parcels from Bethany and Vine Vale. The 2011 growing season in the Barossa was excellent thanks to above average winter, spring and early summer rainfall and vintage itself was cooler and later than recent years.

Winemaking Picked early in the morning, the fruit was delivered cool to the winery. Gentle pressing to minimise phenolics and cold settling preceeded a long, cool fermentation averaging
14°C. A small portion (5%) of the Chardonnay was fermented in seasoned French oak to give added complexity and structure to the wine.
