Winemaking The 2010 Airlie Bank Sauvignon Blanc was sourced predominantly from the cooler upper yarra region of Gladysdale from the Apple Jack vineyard. The fruit was crushed, chilled and gently pressed prior to being cold settled to retain fresh varietal characters. A portion of this wine was barrel fermented in seasoned French oak
building texture and complexity.

Palate A delicate, refreshing wine with a finely balanced acid structure and interesting textural notes, enabling greater length of flavours and freshness. A white wine that cries out for the start of Spring and the ensuing warmer months.

Cellar  For immediate enjoyment, the wine will however continue to develop and soften over the coming two years.

Food Match  Complements any fresh seafood dish such as scallops, lobster or white fleshed fish

About Airlie Bank

In the 1850’s Airlie Bank was the original name of Melbourne’s Punt Road Hill. This property was owned by a Scottish lawyer called David Ogilvy who named the property after Airlie Castle in Scotland, the spiritual home of the Ogilvy clan. Ogilvy planted a vineyard on the banks of the hill stretching down to the Yarra River. According to the history books the wines made on this site were “celebrated” by the local community.

These days the vineyards are long gone and Airlie Bank is prime real estate within walking distance of Melbourne’s CBD. The vineyards are now located in the cool climate of the picturesque Yarra Valley.
