Fruit for this blend was harvested from our best and most intensely-flavoured blocks.
These blocks have reliably produced the quality of fruit we seek for this wine.
Gentle crushing and fermentation on skins for 10 days in a mixture of small open fermenters and larger closed vessels.
We aim for depth, softness and complexity. After maturation in French and American oak barrels,
the wines were assessed and blended to our winemaker’s specification.
Deep colour, typical of the region’s reds. Ripe, chocolate and dark berry aromas with some savoury black olive notes.
Oak is in the background. Full-bodied, generous palate with ripe fruit characters and a lingering finish.
This wine is rather more approachable in its youth than previous releases,
due largely to the stress-free growing season and our use of small open fermenters.
Abundant with sweet fruit flavours and a remarkable persistence,
this wine drinks well on release but has the capacity to develop with cellaring.
