Region South Eastern Australia
Appearance Deep garnet with purple hues.
Bouquet Enticing aromas of cherry fruit, spice and savoury characters coupled with supporting vanilla bean oak.
Palate Rich and lush fleshy palate with cherry fruit, spicy undertones and subtle oak interplay, firm tannins give a smooth generous finish.
Vintage Conditions The lead up to vintage 2010 saw a quite mild growing period accompanied by some rain. The fruit quality obtained was very good despite the challenging weather conditions. With lower than normal yields and fast developing fruit flavours we managed to elude the late rains, enabling the winemaker to craft flavoursome and varietal wines.
Winemaking Fruit was selected by the winemaker for the typical Merlot characters of plum and berry with some fleshiness. The fruit was then harvested when both the flavour and baume were optimum. Spent an average seven days on skins at 22-25°C.
