Product Description

Drift Sauvignon Blanc

Region Awatere Valley, Marlborough NZ

Vintage 2014

Aroma Distinctive to the Awatere Valley is the highly aromatic nose of ripe passionfruit, white peaches and lemon grass

Palate The palate is intense with flavours of passionfruit, ripe green melons and guava.

The Vineyard The Awatere Valley of Marlborough has a unique character, shaped by strong coastal winds, low rainfall, intense sunshine and cool nights. Vines enduring these conditions produce vibrant, intensely flavoured wine with a distinctive mineral character. In all, over 70 individual parcels of Sauvignon Blanc were harvested from vineyards in this unique region, with fruit sourced predominantly from 5 different blocks. Cool nights and perfect summer conditions resulted in excellent flavour intensity and classic varietal fruit characteristics making 2013 a perfect vintage.

The Winemaking The parcels of Sauvignon Blanc fruit were fermented individually, with a long cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks ensuring optimal fruit characteristics were captured and maintained. Post fermentation the wines were racked o ne lees and left to settle. After a lengthy blending session to determine the ultimate blend, the wine was stabilised, filtered and bottled.
